A job simulation on Forage to Design an app for the electric vehicle industry with the Digital Design & UX team!
About the Project
Project Background
bp emphasises being at the forefront of the sustainable energy transition and, as such, has recognised electric vehicles (EVs) as the way of the future.
With so many new EVs appearing on the market daily, there is a basic need for a universal mobile app that helps owners navigate to the closest charging station.
Learning Goals
Understand the market.
Understand personas and their role in the design process.
Build persona.
Build wireframes.
What I did
Created personas and understand the problems a user might face while using the EV charging station app. Created a low fidelity wireframe and prototype to showcase MVP features.
Project Artifacts
Task 1 : Designing a Persona
The first task introduced was to generate a self persona to understand the pains, frustrations and concerns of the users of EV Charging stations and how an app might solve the problems. This allowed me to select and map out features that would serve the users of the app.
This was a self reflection exercise, where I put myself into the user's shoes and tried to navigate the scenario. Ideally it's always the best practice to create persona's of user data's and avoid self personas to avoid biases, however the task mentioned a persona based on oneself.
Task 2 : Creating a basic wireframe to understand functionality
The second task was to create a basic wireframe highlighting functionalities required for a MVP.
Task 3: Detailed Wireframes
Detailed wireframes of the entire flow were created to navigate to the nearest charging station. I also implemented a split display system, which displayed the final destination and also the nearest charging station on the way. This way the user can have an idea of the total travel time needed to reach the final destination.
